I started snowboarding when I lived in Stratton, Vermont after watching people fly down the hill on snowboards. That was 2004, and within a year I was competing in regional events.
“It was the rebellious side of snowboarding that drew me in.”
The sport has taken me on so many amazing adventures! I have progressed immensely competing on the Chevy Revolution Tour, Sprint Grand Prix, North American Cup, and Junior World Championships, competing at places like Valmalenco, Italy and Yubuli, China. I am currently on the SNC Snowboard Team and I have had a great time representing the school when I travel.
Entering the Pitch Competition got me exploring entrepreneurial thinking. I developed a product called the Polar Blanket that keeps you cool at night. Presenting was certainly intimidating, but I discovered that I have composure and great problem solving skills. The experience motivated me to set my major in stone and move forward with developing my business plan even further. It has been a great learning process! This major opens doors to so many opportunities, I am excited to see where it takes me.
In the future, I would like to pursue both my professional and athletic careers. My goal is to make the U.S. Snowboard Team, compete in the World Cup, and to start a career in management in the snow sport industry. I feel that with my knowledge of snowboarding, and the management skills I will acquire at SNC, I will lead an enjoyable future with the major companies in the field.
