Sleep under the stars, test your nerves on a high ropes course, climb at a local crag, raft the American River, BBQ on the beach, participate in a paddle boarding beach clean-up, and that’s just during the first week of school.
Our Outdoor Adventure (OA) program hosts activities to keep you busy all semester. Bike the Flume Trail one weekend and backpack in Yosemite the next. During the winter, snowshoe under the full moon, visit some of the local resorts or spend the night in a backcountry hut. The SNC OA program provides the opportunity and the gear to try something new all year round.

Come paddle the Caribbean of the Sierras, Lake Tahoe, using one of the college’s nine paddleboards.
Spend the night under the stars and the days exploring backcountry areas like Desolation Wilderness, the Tahoe Basin and Yosemite.
Climbing and Bouldering
Spend the day at one of Tahoe’s many climbing spots. Catch beautiful views of the lake while top roping at Trippy Rock, take a short drive to Carson City and check out Dinosaur Rock or take a weekend trip to Bishop, CA for some world class bouldering and a night under the stars.
Project Discovery Ropes Course
Build a strong team with fellow students while conquering the challenges and braving the heights of the Project Discovery Ropes Course. Located on Mt. Rose, the ropes course has both high and low obstacles including a zip line through the trees.
Full Moon Snowshoe
Snowshoe with friends under the full moon.
Whether riding the lift at Northstar, taking advantage of the trails in the basin, or riding around the lake, Tahoe is a biking Mecca.
