Sierra Nevada College’s new extension program on the Truckee Meadows Community College campus celebrated its opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 19. TMCC students will now be able to transfer directly to SNC@TMCC’s 4-year degree programs after completing their two-year associates degree.
“They apply for admission for Sierra Nevada College during their second year like any community college student would who wants to go on and earn a four year degree,” said SNC President Dr. Alan Walker, “but rather than go onto a campus of another institution or go online, they now have the option of earning a bachelor’s degree by simply walking across the hall.”
SNC@TMCC students will have new affordable options to continue their education without disrupting their existing ties to work, family, and community. The partnership is starting with three degree options, in global business management, entrepreneurship and psychology, at a cost of $382 per credit for 2017-2018. Along with a similar program at LTCC in South Lake Tahoe, SNC@TMCC is part of Sierra Nevada College’s drive to find innovative ways to expand access to higher education.
“This is an opportunity for students and faculty to find strength and synergy in education,” noted TMCC President Dr. Karin Hilgersom.
