Position Summary:
This individual will be responsible for all financial information for the University. This will include review of monthly financial statements, and preparation of the annual financial statements and notes for the external audit. This person will oversee/manage the Business Office (including staff/senior accountants and the Accounts Payable department). They will work closely with the HR/Payroll, Student Accounts Receivable, and Financial Aid departments to ensure all financial information is captured accurately. This individual will also lead various regulatory reporting requirements, and should possess solid communication, technology, organizational, and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Review monthly journal entries (e.g., revenue recognition)
- Lead monthly financial statement review and analysis
- Review daily operating cash in the bank and lead weekly cash flow analysis
- Assist with annual budget preparation
- Create/monitor quarterly internal control assessment (influenced by annual external audit findings)
- Review external audit schedules and create annual financial statements and notes
- Coordinate annual financial statement audit, single audit, and 403(b) plan audit
- Monitor cash flow associated with multi-year scholarships
- Stay up-to-date on new legislation related to financial grants/loans for universities and small businesses (e.g., Paycheck Protection Program [PPP], Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund [HEERF])
- Take the lead on documentation, tracking, and cash flow analysis corresponding to funds received
- Assist with the preparation of materials for the Board of Trustees
- Lead various regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., Form 990, annual reporting to the NWCCU)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA/MBA a plus
- Proficiency in the Windows environment, including Excel
- Experience with Banner a plus
- Experience managing a team
- Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial colleagues
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Reports To: Vice President of Finance & Administration
Hours: Salaried, 4 days/week
Compensation: $90,000-$100,000, plus benefits
Other: Fingerprint and background check required as a condition of employment
