Admissions Counselor

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, this position is responsible for recruiting and enrolling new students to Sierra Nevada College. The Admissions Counselor is a professional who recruits and represents SNC Tahoe to high school students within their given territory, and builds relationships with key high school personnel and the community. This self-motivated person will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience with and marketing procedures, preferably in higher education systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and follow new student applicant leads to achieve SNC recruitment goals
  • Oversee outreach, travel, and communication with prospective students in the counselor’s admissions territory
  • Visit high schools and junior colleges to meet with guidance counselors and students
  • Travel to and participate in college fairs
  • Manage electronic and print communication flow
  • Maintain call logs and other records of telemarketing and texting activities
  • Meet with students applying for admission to SNC
  • Participate in admissions special events and projects
  • Prepare and give group presentations on admissions-related topics
  • Maintain and manage accurate data in the admissions CRM and college database (SNCSIS)
  • Assist planning on-campus events and organizing campus visits
  • Give campus tours
  • Manage an admissions special project related to the candidate’s skill set (examples: communications and marketing liaison, student ambassador coordinator, campus event manager)
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact and build rapport with prospective students and their families, to assist them in understanding the enrollment process
  • Working knowledge of database and software programs to enter, track, and maintain prospective student information
  • Previous sales or higher education admissions experience preferred
Other:
  • Ability to load and travel with admissions materials, displays, and other equipment
  • Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours required, especially during the travel season
  • Fingerprint and valid driver’s license check required as a condition of employment.

Pay Range by Qualifications: DOE $37,200 – $40,000 annually (exempt)
