New Student Orientation
Welcome to SNC
Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration, which runs on campus from August 10th - 12th, is required for all new students.
Arrival Dates & Times
All new incoming students should arrive on campus on Monday August 10th between 9:00 - 11:30 am. All students taking placement exams should arrive promptly at 9:00am. If you are unsure if you will be taking a placement exam, please call the Admissions Office or check your VIP checklist. Students must submit a nonrefundable $150 deposit and the Admit Student Reply Form before they will be mailed an orientation and advising packet.
Tahoe or Wilderness Orientation
Join your classmates in exploring your new neighborhood - the pristine alpine environment of the Lake Tahoe Basin. SNC’s Tahoe and Wilderness Orientation programs, which run immediately after SOAR from August 12th - 16th, are not mandatory but are highly recommended for all new students. Meet new friends and ease the transition into college life and the unique opportunities of an SNC education. $100 covers all costs and equipment.
By Air: The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the closest commercial airport, approximately 30 miles from SNC. The North Lake Tahoe Express provides scheduled shuttle service, reserve in advance.

Students must complete placement testing before moving into the residence halls

|1:00pm - 2:00pm||Wilderness and Tahoe Orientation Check-In: Please stop by the check-in table in Patterson Lobby if registered for one of these two programs to receive an itinerary and ask any questions|
|2:00pm- 3:00pm||SNC Active Learning Workshops: Patterson Lawn
Explore the 4 Core Themes through a series of team building activities led by current students highlighting SNC's focus on active learning!

Come meet staff, faculty, and other students from your department and enjoy some free BBQ!

|12:30pm-1:00pm||SNC Tahoe Scavanger Hunt: Meets in Patterson Hall Lobby, ends at Ski Beach
Meet your Orientation Session Group to complete as a team in the scavenger hunt
|1:00pm-3:00pm||Student Government Association Beach BBQ at Ski Beach: Enjoy a free BBQ, paddle boarding, beach volleyball, and other lawn games right on Lake Tahoe courtesy of your SGA!|
|3:00pm-5:00pm||Late Placement Testing: Prim Library, Room 304|
|5:00pm-7:00pm||Dinner: Patterson Hall|
|6:00pm-9:00pm||Tie-Dye & Capture the Flag: Patterson Lawn and Patio. Design and create your own SNC gear to wear for Tahoe and Wilderness Orientation! Bring or buy additional items from the student store to tie-dye if you'd like!|
