3Denim Wins Governor’s Cup

The SNC Tahoe 3Denim team won first place in the D.W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup competition on Thursday April 16th. This interdisciplinary team of art and business students took home the $25,000 prize, beating teams from UNR, UNLV, and TMCC.

Team captain Kelly Benson did a great job explaining the idea for boutique shops in which customers receive a complimentary full body scan that is used to produce custom fit jeans shipped right to their door. Team members Evan Cook and Brendan Wheelwright offered great support. The 3Denim team will head to Las Vegas to represent SNC Tahoe in the Tri-State competition on May 28th.

In related news, SNC Tahoe faculty member Professor Ted Parkhill, who coached all the SNC Tahoe business plan teams this year, is this year’s recipient of the Faculty Advisor of the Year award.

The 3Denim team’s accomplishment reflects the creativity of our students, the impact of active learning, and the dedication of those who took the time to coach and mentor Kelly and her teammates as they prepared for this competition and of Business Chair Kendra Wong, who organized the entire Governor’s Cup event. It was a great night for SNC Tahoe!
