Artist: Carolyn Guerra
Carolyn Guerra’s sculptural subject is emotion—the feeling of being human expressed in visual images of men and women. The media is interchangeable—clay, wood, bronze, fiberglass. Faces are her fascination.
The Emptiness Series is featured consisting of twelve ceramic sculptures of hollow women’s states of fulfillment. One wall depicts some possibilities of variations in creations from one woodblock print. The feature photo is the complex reality of motherhood’s emotional frustration in “Multitasking Medusa Mother”. Finally, a sneak preview to a future exhibit entitled Trash, Treasure, or True Art??? in the multimedia sculpture “Weighty Issue”. Guerra states, “I feel deeply honored to have this exhibition of my art work coincide with the unveiling of my commissioned bronze of Robert Holman and his visual history.”
