BFA Exhibition – “The Fruit We Bear”

November 1, 2021 - November 4, 2021

Image for Sierra Nevada University art student Lauren Murphy's Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) exhibition "The Fruit We Bear"

Artist: Lauren Murphy

Artist Talk & Reception: November 3 | 5pm | Tahoe Gallery

This show encompasses 16 paintings ranging from still lifes to awkward portraits and more. The title “The Fruit we Bear” describes the freedom some objects, or in this case food, can give to one’s life. Lauren renders fruit in nonsensical perspectives to enhance the fact that humans have the ability to manipulate what’s been given to them. “The Fruit we Bear” shares glimpses of the beauty of fruit while also showing how preposterous life is without understanding what came first. After all, these mundane moments in time work to capture the past and the present.

Lauren Murphy grew up in Southern California and started her artistic journey at a community college in Menifee, Ca. After receiving her associates degree she made the move to Nevada to pursue art full time.
