Please come to an evening presentation of the Summer 2018 Africa Studies program, In Patterson 207, Wednesday, Feb 28 2018, 5:30-6:30 PM. We offer three mini-semesters in the Republic of South Africa, meeting in Pretoria, in game parks and in the Kruger Park, and Cape Town. Classes are held (including travel times) May 15-June 2, May 31-June 8, and June 8-June 18, 2018. Students may take up to 15 credits, as a combination of spring and summer credits.
While abroad, we work in local communities, building and repairing crèches, gardens, and schools, work with local citizens, and receive instruction from both our Sierra Nevada College instructors and South African experts. We enjoy some local cuisine and see unbelievable wildlife- lions and elephants dozens of yards from our open-top vehicles.
Summer tuition is only $999 for a three credit course! The U.S. Department of Education has approved additional Pell Grant funds for the Summer 2018 term for undergraduate students currently receiving this grant in the 2017-18 academic year. If you currently have a Federal Pell Grant in your package, you are eligible to receive up to 150% of the initially awarded amount if you enroll at least half-time in the Summer term.
A student with full eligibility could take six summer credits (approx. $2,000 in SNC summer tuition costs) for just over $500 of their own money, plus lab fees & travel. This is a great deal!
