Alpine Skiing
Sierra Nevada College had three skiers finish in the top six to win the team crown in the slalom and successfully defend its overall national championship.

SNC was also first in the GS earlier in the week. Rocky Mountain College finished second in both events and wound up second overall as a team.

Melissa Daniels of SNC placed second to RMC’s Eloise Julliand (1:28.87) with her clocking of 1:32.03. Teammates Johanna Tikkanen (1:33.12) and Tea Palic (1:33.16) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

Matea Ferk and Johanna Tikkanen placed first and second overall, helping Sierra Nevada College win the women’s alpine giant slalom on the first day of the 2013 USCSA Collegiate National Championships on the Greyhawk Trail. Caroline Klaesson (5), Emilie Lamoureaux (7) and Melissa Daniels (10) also finished in the top ten.

Sierra Nevada College survived near whiteout conditions to win the USCSA Men’s Giant Slalom National Championship on the Grayhawk Trail at Sun Valley. Conditions deteriorated throughout the first run, as the course was twice put on hold.

Luca Ricou and Jaka Jazbec placed second and third for SNC, with teammate Viking Roald placing sixth. Rocky Mountain College took second as a team – with placing three skiers in the Top-10. St. Olaf, Babson, and Clarkson rounded out the Top-5.

SNC’s men finish second in the team national championship for slalom as Rocky Mountain College took first place. Behind the strong skiing of Jaka Jazbec (2), Ricko Eriksson (3), Cannon O’Brien (7), Luca Ricou (8) and Marcus Plyhr (21), SNC was able to repeat as overall USCSA National Champions in alpine skiing.
