Have you checked out any of SNU’s campus galleries yet?
Kicking off this semester, we are pleased to invite you to the opening and artist talk for The Last Resort, an exhibition by Kristin Hough this Wednesday September 22nd at 5pm. The exhibition is in the Tahoe Gallery, located on the 3rd floor of Prim Library. Light snacks will be served at 5pm, and Kristin’s artist talk will start at 5:30pm in room PL 320.
According to Hough, the paintings in The Last Resort reference tourist destinations and pull imagery from strangers’ reviews on websites like TripAdvisor and Yelp. They oscillate between awe and cynicism, with frenetic mark-making and multiple narratives guiding the composition. The characters smear mud on their faces and drink beer while wading through foggy waters, as the paintings revel in confusion, bright colors and alien landscapes.
More of her work can be seen at www.kristinhough.com.
Unable to join in person? Join us virtually by watching SNU/FA’s YouTube channel. The whole artist talk will be streaming live at https://youtu.be/gPS0b0Ecb8w!
THIS SIDE OF LOST, a fantastic exhibition by Hasler Gomez, is currently up in The Garage Door Gallery on the first floor of the Holman Arts & Media Center. Gomez will be on campus to give an artist talk at the opening reception on October 13th at 5pm.
