Tool Cups
June 28th – July 2nd, 2021
Ehren Tool will share his cup making and decorating techniques through a series of demonstrations. Participants will be introduced to a lot of techniques, and get to try them all out during the week. Demos will include wheel throwing, making sprig molds, your own personalized laser engraved stamps using our laser cutter, screen printing with your unique images, underglaze decals, and underglaze and glaze decorating. Cups will be glaze fired at the end of the week.

Biography: Born in Charleston South Carolina in 1970. Tool was raised in Sunny South Central Los Angeles, South Dakota (3 years), then back to Los Angeles. Joined the Marine Corps (1989), Served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm (Gulf War One). Tool was a Marine Embassy Guard in Rome and Paris, 15 months each, and was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant after just over 5 years of active duty. Tool used his GI Bill to go to school. Attended Pasadena City College. Received his BFA from the University of Southern California in 2000, and his MFA from the University of California at Berkeley in 2005. Tool is the Senior Laboratory Mechinician at UC Berkeley in the Department of Art Practice. Tool has made and given away over 22,000 cups since 2001. Tool is married and has one son.
