The “Emerald Isle,” as Ireland is known, is home to a rich literary heritage, along with inspiring landscapes, music, and culture.

Fall 2019 Course Info:

ENGL 380-1: Travel Writing in Ireland [3 credits]
ENGL 380-2: Irish Literature Sampler [3 credits]
Trip Dates: August 12 – 21, 2019
Course Fee: $2,000 | includes accommodations, some meals, trips, tours, readings, and shuttles. It does not include airfare. Students will arrange their own flights to Shannon International Airport.

Earn up to six units while exploring beautiful Ireland. Students can take either course, or both courses for credit.

During our stay, we’ll be based in Doolin, Ireland, known for its lively musical scene. We’ll visit the majestic Cliffs of Moher and enjoy a day out in the Aran Islands. Along the way, there might just be an iconic Guinness to whet your whistle, or a “cuppa” of fine Irish tea.

Ireland has a rich history of literature. Novels such as Gulliver’s Travels, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Chronicles of Narnia are all products of Ireland. Students will get an opportunity to listen to modern authors discuss their work during readings.
