“I investigate here.”
SNC captured Zach’s attention because of the unmatchable environmental and ecological conditions in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The amount of attention paid over the years to the preservation and restoration of North America’s largest alpine lake—Lake Tahoe—has turned the region into a haven for scientific research.
Zach’s talent and motivation landed him a research internship with the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, where he worked in the lab alongside real- world scientists. After graduation Zach entered the PhD program in Toxicology at Kentucky State University, Louisville. The intimate atmosphere of a smaller school gave Zach the personalized education he was looking for. Zach followed the footsteps of his Mother and Uncle, who are alumni of SNC.
Zach hopes to use his science background to one day collaborate “to create a better crop body of plants, since famine still affects places in the world and shouldn’t be dismissed as a thing of the past.”
