If you arrive on Friday afternoon, please feel free to take advantage of early check-in and pick up your welcome packet and meal tickets at the Front Desk in Patterson Hall.

Saturday, October 13th
8-9:30am: Registration & Breakfast with Faculty [Patterson Hall]
9:30-10:30am: Sierra Nevada College Today [TCES 139/141]
9:30-10am: Teaching the SNC Way
At this friendly assembly, President Lynn G. Gillette will welcome you to Sierra Nevada College and tell you some of the most unique and innovative things about our approach to higher education. Then, Provost Shannon Beets will describe our Active Learning culture and how it creates the most engaging and effective environment for learning. Finally, Henry Conover, Director of Academic Support, will tell you about how we provide a foundation of support for students at all levels of achievement.
10-10:30am: What Active Learning Really Means to Students
At this student-led panel, you will meet a group of SNC students who will tell you about their experience as students her on campus. They’ll tell and show you about some of our most innovative majors and be available to answer some of your questions.
10:45am-12pm: Parents in the Classroom: Experiential Mini-classes [Various]
Next you’ll have the chance to experience active learning yourself in two short, thirty-minute classroom activities led by some of our outstanding faculty. This was a popular program last year—you won’t want to miss it!
12-12:30pm: Question and Answer Session with Faculty
A panel discussion with faculty, who will be able to answer your questions about Sierra Nevada College.
12:30-5:30pm: Free Afternoon at Lake Tahoe
5:30-8:30pm: Dinner for Parents and Students at the President’s Home
We are looking forward to getting to know you better at this casual event, where you can meet additional students, faculty and staff. Bring your student and your appetite!
Sunday, October 14th
10am-1pm: Complimentary Brunch at Patterson Hall
A Day on Your Own: Take advantage of the beautiful Tahoe weather, enjoy a leisurely brunch, hike the Sierra, or take your student shopping. Information on area attractions and activities will be provided.
