Welcome to SNC

The administration, staff, and faculty of Sierra Nevada College extend our warmest welcome to our new students! We are here to help make your collegiate experience an exciting, educational, and enjoyable one.

Arrival Dates & Times

All new incoming students should arrive on campus on Monday, August 12. If you are living on campus, please arrive between 9:00am-5:00pm to move into the residence halls. If you are living off campus, please check in between 9:00am-3:00pm. All students taking placement exams should arrive promptly at 9:00am. (If you are unsure if you will be taking a placement exam, please call the Admissions Office or check your VIP checklist. For all students needing a ride to campus from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, SNC recommends that you schedule a seat on the North Lake Tahoe Express Shuttle.  All information can be found here: North Lake Tahoe Express. Students must submit a nonrefundable $150 deposit and the Admit Student Reply Form before they will be mailed an orientation and advising packet. Orientation on August 12-16 is required for all new students.

1:00-3:00pm	MANDATORY SNC Active Learning Workshops: Patterson Lawn Explore the 4 Core Themes through a series of team building activities highlighting SNC’s focus on active learning!

4:00-6:00pm	MANDATORY Welcome BBQ and Meet & Greet: Patterson Lawn

11:30am-12:30pm	SNC Scavenger Hunt: Meet in Patterson Lobby, ends at Ski Beach Meet your Orientation Session Group to compete as a team in the scavenger hunt. Race begins promptly at 11:45 and the winning team gets first priority on the Sierra Cloud Catamaran boat trip!
12:30-4:30pm	Student Government Association Beach BBQ at Ski Beach

Wednesday, August 14th, Spirit Day
9:00am-5:00pm	MANDATORY Advising, Registration, & Complete Orientation Checklist: Complete all Orientation checklist items TODAY! Students who registered for classes during the summer will not have an advising appointment; however, if you wish to meet with your advisor, please contact the admissions office.
9:00am-12:30pm	Late Arrival Placement Testing: Prim Library 1st Floor
12:30-4:00pm	Tie-Dye: Patterson Lawn Design and create your own SNC gear to wear for spirit Wednesdays! Bring or buy additional items from the bookstore booth to tie-dye!
4:00-6:00pm	Eagles Have Landed Mixer: Come meet faculty and other students from your department and enjoy some refreshments.
6:00-8:30pm	Magic Carpet Mini Golf: Sign up & meet in Patterson Hall
Thursday, August 15th
All Day	Late Check-in, Advising & Registration and Orientation Checklist Completion
9:30am-1:30pm	Paddle Boarding Beach Clean Up: Help clean up the shallow parts of Lake Tahoe’s shore while paddle boarding. Lunch included. Sign up & meet in Patterson Lobby
2:00-3:00pm	Student Employee & Federal Work Study Orientation: TCES room 139
3:00-5:00pm	Make-up New Student Mandatory Orientation Sessions

4:00-9:00pm	Tour de Incline: Check out Incline Village, walk around town plus dinner and a movie
