Incoming Student Orientation
Welcome to SNC Tahoe Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration
Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR), which runs on campus from August 14 – 16, is required for all entering freshmen. We recommend that transfer students attend SOAR, but they can also attend a Transfer Student Orientation session on Friday morning August 18th.
Arrival Dates & Times
All new incoming students should arrive on campus on Monday, August 14th at 9 am. All students taking placement exams should arrive promptly at 9:00am. If you are unsure if you will be taking a placement exam, please call the Admissions Office. Students must submit a nonrefundable $150 deposit and the Admit Student Reply Form before they will be mailed an orientation and advising packet.
Tahoe or Wilderness Orientation
Join your classmates in exploring your new neighborhood - the pristine alpine environment of the Lake Tahoe Basin. SNC’s Tahoe and Wilderness Orientation programs, which run immediately after SOAR from August 16th - 20th, are not mandatory but are highly recommended for all new students. Meet new friends, ease the transition into college life, and discover the unique opportunities of an SNC education. $100 covers all costs and equipment.
By Air: The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the closest commercial airport, approximately 30 miles from SNC. The North Lake Tahoe Express provides scheduled shuttle service, reserve in advance.
