Welcome to SNC Tahoe SOAR

Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration, which runs on campus from January 14th & 15th, is required for all new students.

Arrival Dates & Times

All new incoming students should arrive on campus on Thursday, January 14th between 9:00 - 11:30 am. All students taking placement exams should arrive promptly at 9:00am. If you are unsure if you will be taking a placement exam, please call the Admissions Office or check your VIP checklist.  Students must submit a nonrefundable $150 deposit and the Admit Student Reply Form before they will be mailed an orientation and advising packet.


Getting Here

By Air: The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is the closest commercial airport, approximately 30 miles from SNC. The North Lake Tahoe Express provides scheduled shuttle service, reserve in advance.

9:00 - 11:30am Residence Halls Open for New Student Move-in: Patterson Hall Lobby
9:00 - 11:30am Placement Testing: Prim Library, 3rd Floor, Office 304
(You must complete placement testing prior to attending Orientation activities)
11:30am - 12:00pm Welcome Address with President Dr. Alan Walker and Provost Shannon Beets: Patterson Hall
12:00 - 2:00pm Complementary Lunch: Patterson Hall
1:00  - 5:00pm Orientation Checklist Completion: 

  1. Check-in with Financial Aid
  2. Registrar's Office for Registration and Student ID
  3. Check-in with Student Accounts
1:00 - 4:00pm Advising Sessions: Prim Library, 3rd Floor, Office 304
1:00 - 1:30pm Parent Student Life Information Session: Patterson Hall, room 207
4:00 - 7:00pm Pizza, Ice Skating, & S'Mores at Northstar-at-Tahoe: Meet in Patterson Hall lobby dressed in warm clothes. Pizza and s'mores will be provided.

9:30am-12:30pm MANDATORY New Student Orientation Sessions: Patterson Hall room 207
