Relay for Life needs teams, volunteers

North Lake Tahoe Bonanza: Each year’s Relay For Life takes on a life of its own – growing with each event. This year the Relay will be held Aug. 17 with many new teams participating. The date was purposely set later in the summer to coincide with returning students and the Incline High School team and Sierra Nevada College teams to get more youth groups involved. Teams will be returning from the Incline Village General Improvement District, the Incline Village Community Hospital, golfers, service clubs, church groups,Wells Fargo Bank, and more to fill up Preston Field. This year a salsa band and dancers will giving demonstrations.

This year’s event Chair, Ginny Moore, notes that there are still several key volunteer positions to fill and many more volunteers are needed, both for the night of the event and for the weeks leading up to it. IHS student volunteers will receive community service points for volunteer time.

The American Cancer Society is asking teams to sign up online. Those teams who are online have found that their donors like the convenience of donating to the cause that way – the totals are already going up each day. Check out the Web site at . Volunteers with computer experience will be appreciated.
