Former UNLV President Maxson to lead Sierra Nevada College
CBS2 Palm Springs: Robert C. Maxson, former president of UNLV and Long Beach State, has been named the president of Sierra Nevada College.
Maxson said the first time he set foot on the campus at Lake Tahoe he "fell in love with it." The school’s board of trustees appointed him to the post at the 40-year-old liberal arts college in Incline Village.
Maxson replaces Larry Large, who had served as interim president the last 18 months and will continue to work with the college as a consultant.
Maxson served as senior vice president for academic affairs at the University of Houston before he began a 10-year run as president of UNLV in 1984. He was president of Long Beach State from 1994 to 2006 and has been special assistant to the chancellor of the California State University System for the past two years.
