Annual Tahoe Poetry Slam

Sierra Nevada College presents the eighth annual Tahoe Poetry Slam. The evening’s MC is Poetry Slam champion and audience favorite Pan Pantoja. The evening is popular with high school, college and poetry enthusiasts and involves active audience participation and judging. Come early to get a good seat. The event will be raucous fun – don’t miss it! There are cash prizes for the top three competitors, and the winner of the competition is crowned Tahoe Slam Champion of the Year.

“According to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, 30% of households with children reported that a parent, child, or both experienced hunger.” Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread.
