MAPPING THE PAST – A High School Poetry Workshop with Patricia Smith
We’ve all heard it before–“Write what you know”–but how do we sort through the hundreds of experiences and memories that will make our poems worth reading? Using a map of the most important places and moments in our lives, we’ll dig beneath the surface to find the stories that define us–the stories that beg to be told. And then we’ll tell them.
Learn from Patricia Smith, four time national slam poetry champion and winner of the 2013 Lenore Marshall Poetry prize for ‘Shoulda Been Jimi Savannah‘.
