After graduating from Columbia University (BSEE) and Hamilton College (BA -Mathematics) in the joint “3-2” Program, Chuck went on to the University of Rochester, where he received an MBA in Finance and Marketing.. He then went on to a 40+ year career with Fortune 500 manufacturing companies, with a focus on product development of consumer and industrial products.
He held positions of increasing responsibility with Litton Industries, Rockwell International Corporation, Maytag Corporation and Masco Corporation, where he retired in 2007 as Group President – Architectural Products, after having been President of Delta Faucet Company , Division of Masco, from 1988-1999. As Group President-Architectural, he was lead executive in acquiring for Masco and managing companies such as Behr Paint, Milgard Windows, Masterchem Industries Ltd., Vapor Technologies, Inc., and a number of additional consumer durable and related technology companies, domestic and foreign. The Architectural Products Group posted sales of several Billion Dollars per year and operations in North America, Europe, and Asia under his direction. Chuck has held, or continues to hold positions on the Board of Directors of six different private, multi-generational for-profit companies. He was previously a member of the SNC Board of Trustees from 2003-2010, with specialty in Finance and Administration. He has guest lectured at Anderson University, Michigan State University and University of Toledo on Leadership.
Recently widowed of his wife of 48 years, Chuck has two grown daughters and six grandchildren. You’ll see him hiking on the Tahoe Rim trail with his brown and white Dalmatian “Blaze”. Chuck has been part of the Incline Community since 2000

A Nevada Fellowship of the Arts recipient, Dudley and his art are deeply informed by mountains, desert, rock-climbing, and being alone both in the land and in a more existential way. His photography, installation, sculpture, and video work has been exhibited in galleries, public collections, and alternative spaces, including Mindy Oh in Chicago, the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, the A.M. Project and Treehouse Galleries in Los Angeles, and the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno. Exhibiting at times under the name of his alter ego Jimmy Jewel, he is a member of the art collaborative, d3ms, and his ongoing photographic collaborations with performance artist Joanna Frueh have resulted in portfolios published by UC Berkley, University of Nevada, and Nevada Museum of Art presses. Steve joined Sierra Nevada College in 1992. His academic interests include conservation biology, the ecology of freshwater systems, the flora of the Sierra and Great Basin, mathematical and statistical reasoning, and land use conflicts in the western United States. Recently he has developed an interest in the ecology and management of the High Sierra and is working on book on the natural history associated with the John Muir Trail. He teaches courses in environmental science and mathematics, and served as department chair from 2001-2008.
Steve is an avid mountain and road cyclist. He participates in numerous long-distance cycling events such as the Davis Double Century and the Death Ride. Last spring he did the Solvang Double Century on a tandem with his son. He also enjoys hiking, backpacking, and sea kayaking. Recently he has developed a passion for nature photography, especially emphasizing macro shots of insect/plant interactions. His wife, Julie, is a biology professor at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno. She is actively involved in recruiting and mentoring underrepresented high school students into biomedical programs and the college and university level.
