Detour to the Top:
Student Sonya Hernandez’ Powerful Story

Award-winning filmmakers Katie Galloway and Kelly Duane de la Vega follow 21-year-old SNC environmental studies student Sonya Hernandez as she pursues her dreams and conquers her fears in Yosemite National Park.

I came from a poor rural town with little promise of a better life. If you’d told me back then that I would wind up devoting my life to sustainability, I would have said you were crazy. I had never even seen a mountain, a waterfall, the snow.
