Suzanne Roberts wins the National Outdoor Book Award (NOBA) for her travel memoir Almost Somewhere: Twenty-Eight Days on the John Muir Trail. Roberts, who teaches in the Sierra Nevada College MFA program and also at Lake Tahoe Community College, took the 2012 prize in the literature category. The NOBA review said that “the dialog, the imagery, and the story are so well done and so absorbing that men and women of all generations will find it a satisfying and fulfilling literary treat.” In 2008, National Geographic presented Roberts with the “Next Great Travel Writer” award. Almost Somewhere: Twenty-Eight Days on the John Muir Trail shows she has lived up to that promise.
