North Lake Tahoe Bonanza: Janice McMurrin MacLean, a strong supporter of SNC, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007 at her home at Incline Lake, Nev. after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 77 years young.
She was born on July 18, 1930 in Los Angeles, Calif. to Rulon Clark and Vera Hawley McMurrin. Janice began her family in the Los Angeles area, but relocated permanently "up at the cabin" at Incline Lake in 1968. While living in the Lake Tahoe area, Janice engaged in her passions as an equestrian, artist and skier. Among other contributions, she was a strong supporter of Sierra Nevada College.
In 1990, Janice began her life dream of building an equestrian center, Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility, in Washoe Valley. The business is now a successful enterprise carried on by her children and grandchildren.
Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Gale MacLean. She is survived by her children, M. Lynne Garnett of Incline Village, Stephen C. Riley MacLean of Incline Village and Hawley H. MacLean of Reno; stepsons John B. MacLean, Michael G. MacLean and Rory M. MacLean; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister Mary M. Frazee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, Oct.14, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ross, Burke & Noble Mortuary, 2155 Kietzke Lane, Reno. A celebration will follow at 20 Day Lily Court, Reno at 6:30 pm. Funeral services and interment will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, 2007 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tahoe Forest Hospice.
