After 30 years of a distinguished teaching career at Sierra Nevada College, 16 of those years as Chair of the Humanities Department, Laird Blackwell is retiring. We would like your help in honoring him.

Join us on Saturday, May 5, 2012 as we celebrate Laird’s career. The on-campus festivities will begin at 3 pm with a presentation from his newest book, Wildflowers of California, followed by tributes to Laird. A farewell reception in his honor will take place from 4-6 pm.

We invite you to share your expression of what Laird has meant to SNC, to you personally, and/or to the community. Please email your thoughts as soon as possible toadabrowska@sierranevada.edu, or send them to the Institutional Advancement Office, 999 Tahoe Boulevard, Incline Village, NV 89451.

I haven’t met Laird, but my son who is a student has talked frequently about him. According to my son, Laird is a very gifted and involved teacher. He has encouraged my son by example. Thank you, Laird, for for stimulating my son’s intellectual curiosity. You are an excellent teacher.    Candace
