Class of 2012 has finished up their time here at Sierra Nevada College and are now headed towards their dreams. We’ve pulled out a small sample of what some of those graduates have up their sleeves for the future.

Graduates Andrew Gauthier, Zaira Perez and Matthew Gonzales with professor Kendra Wong

Zaira Perez plans to stay in Tahoe and work before relocating to Nepal where she hopes to pursue a job or internship. Graduate school is in her future but she is undecided on her study of choice.

Lauren Upton has applied to Sonoma State University to pursue her Master’s degree in History. She will be spending a month in Florence, Italy this summer to participate in a language immersion program. In the future, she hopes to work as an archeologist in Italy after completing her Doctorate degree.

Amanda Badger received a full scholarship plus living stipend to complete a Ph.D. in Accounting at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.

Andrew Gauthier received a scholarship to pursue a Masters Degree in Hospitality Management at Glion Institute of Higher Learning in Switzerland.

Helle Throndsen who is also studying Hospitality Management will join Gauthier at Glion Institute of Higher Learning.

Matt Fall has applied for the MAT program in secondary math and science here at Sierra Nevada College.

Matthew Gonzales will be relocating to Seattle, Washington where he has several job opportunities lined up.

Lynda Hyce will be pursuing a Masters Degree in Energy Management at Duke University.

Nicole Lutkemuller has applied for a position with AmeriCorp as well as several internships with state agencies. She plans on working as an intern for at least a year before taking time off to backpack in Europe. Nicole will be applying to Grad school in the future to pursue a program related to forestry, ecology, or natural resources.

Graham Johnson plans to stay in Tahoe and further develop his aquaponics-based business Fin & Leaf LLC which focuses on community education, private consultation and working toward providing local produce and fish for the Tahoe Basin. Additionally he will continue his internship with IVGID’s WasteNot program as well as his employment with Hyatt.

Troy Mott will be attending the Stanford Psychology Research Fair May 18-19 before returning to Canada where he will complete his LSATS and GRE examinations and apply to school for the 2013-2014 school years.

Jessica Hayworth is working as a freelance illustrator until applying for grad school for the 2013-14 school year. She already has a large project lined up illustrating children’s book apps buily for the iPad.

Kath McGaughey is currently a Shop Manager and Contributing Artist at Riverside Studios in Truckee, California. Since her coursework ended in December, she has been invited to a number of solo and group exhibitions in the northern Nevada area. She plans to be attending grad school to pursue an MFA in the next few years.
