In Conjunction With
Day One – “Screenwriting Essentials”
Brainstorming, structure and character work
Got a new idea or want to rewrite an old one? The first part of this seminar will invite you to build from premise, find the structure and form that works for your idea and offer you writing tools to help you outline in one day. Then, once you have your story idea, the second part of the class will invite you to give your characters a chance to get out and play a little through hands-on on exercises in class.
Day Two – “The Craft of Screenwriting”
Dialogue honing, formatting and the art of the page
Building on the first day, you will learn to create great scenes and set-pieces that are entertaining and original. You will also learn quick and effective writing techniques to revive bland exchanges, tune up character voices, and bring more life to the page. The final part to this seminar will cover word choice, subtext, and story. Through written examples, you will take a hard look at word-choice, scene direction, and nuances of the page.
