Build skills to teach children who are autistic.  Coursework helps you understand the challenges that children with AUTS face. You will develop expertise in the design and application of behavioral and instructional support for diverse learners and understand how to identify problem behaviors and develop teaching plans to address them.

Expertise in teaching students who are autistic is developed in designing and applying augmentative communications systems, such as graphic symbols, vocalization, gestures, signs, and exchanges systems for students with autism who do not develop spoken language. You will also practice ways to teach children who are autistic communication skills and language acquisition.

We help you design and implement the best practices for teaching students who are autistic. This includes research-based models and therapies that enhance social competence. Your new knowledge of program planning in practices for collaboration, partnerships and life issues will help individuals on the Autism Spectrum find ways to create success in nonacademic school environments.

The curriculum for this education master’s degree fulfills part of the Nevada endorsement for teaching students with autism, and empowers you to apply basic concepts of ASD to educational practice.  Youradvanced teaching skills will enable you to analyze and employ best practices for students with ASD. You will also be proven in your ability to evaluate and synthesize theory into practice and completion of Sustainable Education Projects (SEP).
