Arctic Alaska Summer Field Course

The Gwich’in town of Arctic Village lies north of the Arctic Circle and just south of the border of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), often called “the last great wilderness”.

For the past several years Professor Brennan Lagasse has traveled to this special place with SNC students to live and work with the Gwich’in Tribe. We travel above the Arctic Circle and spend a week of cultural immersion with the Tribe while studying the six pillars of Holistic Sustainability.

This course is built on a special invitation made from the Tribe to SNC students to visit “the last great wilderness”, and this year there is a special gathering taking place that we are invited to participate in.
