Art Hits the Road at SNC

Road construction met fine art in the Holman Building driveway at the SNC Fine Arts “Sierra Squish“, where oversized woodblocks were printed under pressure by a steamroller.

Art Grounded in Place

Living here at Lake Tahoe is a rare opportunity to be challenged and inspired by your surroundings, often at the same time. It’s a place of amazing beauty and of equally amazing outdoor adventures. It’s also a place where humans have pushed up against environmental fragility in obvious ways for a long time.

Finding sustainability – in the arts, in the environment, in society, in economics – is always an important idea around here.

Art Fed by Community

We think creative interaction is hugely important. You’ll get your fine arts degree among students in every discipline. You’ll get feedback from peers and faculty mentors who are interested in your work and your ideas. You’ll exhibit your work in the group Midway Art Portfolio Review and a solo BA or BFA show.

You’ll meet the exciting visiting artists whose work is exhibited in SNC’s four gallery spaces. You might learn about the Italian Renaissance in Italy, Japanese artistic traditions in Japan, or current trends in ceramics at conferences in the US.
