Greg Wilbur | Moving Metal: The Art of Raising
June 15th-19th, 2009
Transform a flat sheet of copper into elegant and voluminous closed forms. Using metal hammers, you will learn the process of Western and Eastern concentric raising. Design possibilities, surface treatments and patinas will be explored. Geared for both beginners and more experienced students, the instructor will take a personal approach to closely monitor techniques and efficiency.
Biography
Greg Wilbur is a studio metalsmith from Portland Oregon. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon with degrees in jewelry/metalsmithing and art education. He has exhibited in many fine craft shows including the American Council Craft Shows in San Francisco and Baltimore, Smithsonian Craft Show and the Philadelphia Museum Crafts Show. He also co-founded Art in the Pearl, a highly rated Portland Oregon art festival. He has taught all over the United States, Canada and New Zealand. He exhibits his work internationally.
