Sarah Whorf | Waterless Lithography

June 7th – 11th, 2010

Waterless Lithography is a relatively new print medium. The mark-making and look of the finished prints are similar to traditional stone lithography, but can be achieved in less steps, and can be quickly learned by beginning printmakers. Students will learn to use a variety of drawing materials, as well as photo-copy transfer techniques. We will print in both black and white and color. A group print exchange will be encouraged at the end of the workshop. Sarah Whorf was born in Santa Monica, California.  She received an M.F.A. in printmaking from California State University, Long Beach in 2001.  She is currently an Associate Professor at

Humboldt State University in Northern California where she teaches printmaking.  Sarah's work is about the combination of everyday symbols and the metaphoric narrative, with a healthy dose of color and pattern. An article about her work was recently published in Contemporary Impressions, The Journal of the American Print Alliance, Fall 2007.  Her article on converting credit card imprinters was published in the Winter 2008 issue of Ampersand, The Journal of the Pacific Center for the Book Arts.
